The penultimate Legislative Council sitting week of 2025 was dominated by debate on two major pieces of legislation, seeking to reform both the planning system and the workers compensation system. Both bills passed the Council, with debate on the workers compensation bill stretching into the early hours of Friday morning.

On Thursday the Opposition successfully moved a motion censuring the Leader of the Government, Minister Penny Sharpe, for the Government’s non-compliance with an order for papers related to the Moore Park Golf Course and Moore Park South.

The House also agreed to establish a new Select Committee into Youth Justice, and heard about the establishment of two other new committee inquiries: one into the structure and funding of the arts, music, night-time economy and transport portfolios, and another into clean indoor air.
